Genesis being the biggest identity theft website announced the sale of their platform to a threat actor that will restart operations from next month. The Genesis Infrastructure sold by the admin had the high potential to threaten the sanity of millions of users.
On June 28, 2023, the claimed admin of Genesis Market declared on a cybercrime forum that the Genesis Store was available for sale.
The Genesis, launched in 2017 was finally seized by the FBI in April 2023 for being a Dark web marketplace for stolen credentials. It provides the personal details of the subscribers including passwords, and pins to popular websites including Amazon, Airbnb, eBay, Facebook, Netflix, PayPal, and Fidelity.
It was not complex to break through the system of the Genesis market because it was an invite-only marketplace whose invite codes were easily found online. Allegedly it is found that the personal details used were stolen from 1.5 million computers.

The new owner will create new accounts on the forums if required; existing accounts won't be moved. According to an investigation by Flare Cybersecurity, "the store with all the developments" and its data, including customer information, were included in the transaction.
